Lois Lovely saves Machoman

Tex Ruthlus has recently received a lead box containing femenite. This material emits femenite rays extremely allergic to Machoman. Text has developed a devius device called a Femenite Derandomizer. It is a ray gun type device that when turned on, injects a megavolt of electricity into the femenite. This causes the femenite to decay into a powerful beam of femenite rays. The eventual target, of course, is Machoman. Machoman needs to know the volume of the femenite bar in the possession of terrible Text Ruthles, once it has received a one megavolt charge, femenite is know to decay at the rate of one cubic centimeter per minute. Machoman’s girlfriend, Lois Lovely, has obtained a diagram of the bar is a regular hexagonal prism 20 centimeters long. Each edge of the hexagonal base is 4 centimeters. Machoman was never as fast as a speeding bullet when it came to math, so it is up to you to save him. Calculate the total volume in cubic centimeters of the bar of femenite. What is the volume? From this you can determine how many minutes the ray gun can operate before all the femenite rays decays. How many minutes does Machoman have from the time Text Ruthlus turns on the device until all the femenite decays. Hurry, I think Text Ruthlus is approaching!!! (Take as 1.7 in your calculations)

Dr. Aquatic and his Fiendish Plan

The mad and evil scientist, Dr Aquatic, has hatched a fiendish plan to drain all the oceans into 15 cylindrical holes in the earth. He has calculated that the volume of the water in the oceans is about 330,000,000 cubic miles ( cubic miles). He has determined that the holes should be 2,800 miles deep. At this depth the holes will reach tremendous temperatures and the water filling them will turn into steam and create a waterless dead planet surrounded by steam room temperature. (According to his analyst, Dr. Aquatic never learned to swim causing a neurotic paranoia about water. This mental state makes him feel dirty and creates a need for daily steambaths.) Your job is to find where Dr. Aquatic is doing his dirty work so he can be stopped. With the aid of powerful telescopes mounted on satellites, you can search the ocean floors. What are you looking for? What must the radius of the holes be if they are to hold all the water from the oceans? Take the value of pi to be 22/7 . Give the answer to the nearest mile.

Do email your answers to dogsdontdomath@gmail.com
Do indicate your full name & class.
Prizes will be given to the student with the best answers to both the questions.
